This class is designed for new competitors who have no experience in action shooting sports but have a working knowledge of their firearm, understand the 4 rules of gun safety, can shoot a full-size humanoid target standing on a flat range, and are willing to learn.

Qualification to Practical & Competitive Shooting is about preparing you for the world of practical shooting. This course will prepare you to safely compete in USPSA, GPA, PCSL, and other action shooting sports as well as attend practical shooting practice at Richmond Rod and Gun Club. It's a hands-on approach that provides you with valuable tips and tricks from seasoned competitors, helping set you up for safety and success.

Upon completing this course, you will be qualified to compete at USPSA matches held at Richmond Rod & Gun Club as well as attend Richmond Action Practices. You must be qualified by this class or by the club's New Competitor Class to compete/practice. This is an alternative to Richmond Action's New Competitor Class.

This class will cover some fundamentals of practical shooting, but it is not a performance shooting class. Students are expected to have a working knowledge of how to shoot and operate their firearm before taking this class.
